Kedarnath Town
It’s a town which is situated in Rudraprayag district in the state of Uttarakhand. It snuggled between Garhwal Himalayas.
Located at 11755ft from sea level near the Chorabari glacier which finally meets into the Mandakini river. Kedarnath is approximately 86km from Rudraprayag district. In winter the small houses in this town are fringed by the snow. The nearest road is Gauri Kund at 16km away from the town. In 2013 the town suffers massive destruction from the flash flood due to huge rainfall in Uttrakhand. This beautiful town will definitely catch your heart with its innocence.
Adi Shankaracharya Connection
Adi Shankaracharya took his Nirwana near the mountains of Kedarnath. It is said that Kedarnath Temple it is built by Adi Shankaracharya. Kedarnath means “ Lord Shivas Home”. It’s an almost 1200 years old shrine. Huge Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi temple is also situated in Kedarnath.
Char-Dham Pilgrimage Circuit
